Creating a great customer experience is vital for any business. It will earn their loyalty and gain repeat business. And the same goes when it comes to mobile apps. Failing to focus on the user experience of your mobile app is unforgivable and in the long run, it simply won’t work. Follow these 5 simple, yet crucial, steps and your business will be in good stead for creating a compelling mobile experience for your customers…

  1. Keep your app simple

As they say, less is more. Don’t bombard your customers with too many features all at once. A simple and clean layout will be a great foundation for your app. Developing a workflow in which users can perform desired tasks easily will be beneficial to both your business and your customers. The navigation of your app needs to be smooth and seamless, anything other than that and the chances of them returning to use the app again are slim.

  1. Give your app added value

You need to give your customers a reason to download your app. It should be of some sort of value to them. However, it’s important to ensure you don’t lose sight of why you’re developing an app in the first place and to keep on track with its primary objective.

  1. Your app’s performance is crucial

If it doesn’t work then no one will use it. They may download the app but they’ll never use it again. It’s crucial that the app works properly across devices and platforms. It needs to be responsive, quick and easy to use. The little things really do matter and if something isn’t working the way it should, then the mobile experience is seriously dented.

  1. Make it personal

Keep in mind that mobile is a very personal device, so the app needs to be personal too. Deploying a mobile app enable you to track your customer analytics. The more you know about your customers’ behaviour and needs, the better. This way the engagement between your company and your customers will be made easier through tailored content that you know your app users will enjoy.

  1. Keep them coming back

You need to give your customers a reason to return to your app. Regular updates and fresh content is vital and will ensure your users keep coming back for more. There’s no benefit for you or your customer in using the app just once. You want them to regularly use it and they need to be given a reason for using it again and again. In following these 5 steps, they should do exactly that.

In 2014, the percentage of apps used only once shrunk to 20%, improving from 22%. It’s essential that your business doesn’t get dragged into this 20%. Create a compelling mobile experience and your customers will keep coming back to your app.
